Learning the Rod & Lures

Tonight after dinner while I was washing dishes, Brian and Thomas were out back playing with the new Spiderman fishing rod that he got for his birthday. Up until this point, Thomas just seemed to swing the rod around randomly with no "reel" purpose (sorry... had to). Brian was really patient with him and showing him out to crank the reel and pull up the (attached) fish - which requires quite a bit of motor skills for a 2 year old. The pictures actually tell the story. Remember to keep in mind that Thomas is very interested, but it is also getting close to bedtime.

Listening & watching Daddy
"Like this Daddy?"

Having a "reel" good time! (ha-ha)
OK... here is where the tiredness has set in:
Brian was chasing Thomas who had the fishing rod, caught him and
was playing with him while holding him upside down.

I know, I know, I know - it looks like we are such bad parents. Smiling (& even chuckling) while Thomas runs away crying. But if you were there, you would know that he was just too tired and yes, he got upset because he didn't have his fishing rod anymore. After 30 more seconds and lots of tears, he was snuggled in Daddy's arms and just fine. Meanwhile, 20 minutes later he was fast asleep. He is so predictable and I just adore everything about him.
Video Clip - Isn't this the cutest ever? This is how everything began out on the back porch while I was inside cleaning up. I snuck outside to video tape this "Thomas & Daddy" time.
