Comic Relief

Thomas has always had a good sense of humor.  A boy who loves to laugh, make others laugh & smile, and get a reaction from anyone who might be listening to him.
I've heard that "five" is a transition age regarding humor. For example, kids are learning the mechanics of joke telling. They understand that jokes have punchlines at the end and that people laugh when you tell one.
The problem, more often than not, is that kids don't really "get" the nuances or puns of most jokes yet - that is especially true with Thomas.  Knock-knock jokes are a big favorite with him.  Despite us sharing some funny ones with him, Thomas tells ones - again & again - that almost never make any sense.  Aughh!  I love him though & his attempt at providing some comic relief.

Knock-knock!
Who's there?
Boo-Yah!
Boo-Yah who?
Boo-Yah, I'm gonna race down to the end of the street and run over your booty-butt!

See what I mean?  Makes no sense, but he barely makes it through the joke before he is already cracking up and keeled over laughing.  After hearing jokes like this 100 times in an hour, it starts to feel like you are listening to a broken record that has scratches running through it.  Painful.
I will give him a little comic credit though... he has learned two jokes that are laugh worthy & he tells them periodically to folks who will listen:
Q: Why did the banana go to the doctor?
A: Because he wasn't "peeling" very good.
Knock-knock!
Who's there?
Cow goes.
Cow goes who?
No, no... Cow goes Mooooo, not who!
