Warm day, kids play

Unlike when we lived in Florida when I would pack away the summer clothes during the late autumn months, and conversely, pack away the winter clothes when Spring Break arrived...
it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that we were only going to need our "summer" clothes for a few shorts months of the year up here in Alaska.  It also has become quite clear that there is no need to pack up any of the long pants, long shirts, sweatshirts and jackets - at any point, the weather changes and goes from shorts-weather to sweatshirt & pants-weather at the drop of a dime.
Thankfully though, we have enjoyed some outstanding weather recently and have spent a great deal of time soaking in all the Alaskan sun!
On our way to the playground!
Getting absolutely dirty and filthy...
but having a great time doing it!

Just a few days ago, we headed to downtown Anchorage with Aunt Jen (while the boys were returning from their fishing trip).  Although not in the original plans, we decided to enjoy some music in the park and a hotdog picnic (have I mentioned that there are reindeer sausage & hotdog stands on almost every corner in town?).  It was a gorgeous afternoon to be outside!

As you can see, we weren't the only ones who soaked up the summer sun & enjoyed the music!
And for the first time while being in Alaska, the kids dawned their bathing suits and the sprinkler was turned on so they could cool off and having fun in the water.  Perhaps it was the most perfect Alaskan day yet, but at 75 degrees, I actually broke a sweat just sitting outside.
Even some of Thomas' neighborhood friends couldn't help but put on their swimsuits and kick off their shoes when the sprinkler was turned on... water does that to kids, you know?
Even the little girls who just moved in next door joined the fun!

If the sprinkler was any indication, I am quite certain that Marilyn will be no different than her brother and sister when it comes to pools, beaches and waterparks.  We clearly have another waterbaby on our hands.

And this water is cold...
imagine how much she would like it if it felt like Florida water?
This is our ghetto waterpark...
The kids had a blast and that is all that matters!
