Dirt & Boogers

I realize that doesn't sound like such an appealing caption for this blog but it really does capture the kids this weekend.  And it is all centered around "sickness."  It started Friday afternoon when we were told there was a child who had gotten the flu in Abby's class at school... sure enough that night Abby started with the watery eyes, running nose galore and a serious cough.  That night I ended up sleeping on Abby's bedroom floor until about 2:30 AM because she continued to be woken up by her cough and clogged nose.  Poor girl.  Needless to say, over the course of the weekend, we have polished off a few boxes of tissues and had boogers touch about everything.  Gross!
However, we did manage to make room for some well-timed playtime outside where we enjoyed some swinging, soccer, climbing and fresh air.
Oh... and lots and lots of colored balls.  This will keep Abby totally consumed FOREVER.  If you look closely in this picture... there is a huge booger hanging out of her poor little red nose.
Speaking of soccer (two pictures above) -
  • We are signing up for our first ever season of YMCA soccer this week and are looking forward to it starting next month.  Let's just hope Thomas enjoys himself... and burns off ALOT of energy.  Secretly, I hope he likes soccer because that was Mommy's favorite sport played growing up.
  • We got pretty dirty this weekend playing in the backyard... I'm fairly certain that Thomas & Abby will always get dirty playing any sport they decide... I should probably buy stock NOW in Tide laundry detergent.
Abby & Daddy will stay home from school/work tomorrow because Abby has just progressively gotten worse - they will head to the doctor in the AM and see if its just a cold, the flu or maybe even an ear infection?  Either way, Daddy will give lots of TLC to her and jsut give her a chance to rest when she wants to.  Oh and let's not forget she won't be spreading all her gross and yucky boogies & kudies.
