As usual, the Heck gang is staying busy. Today was no different... we headed to the dentist for Thomas & Abby to have a checkup. This was actually Thomas' second dentist visit (the 1st one was a year ago) but this was the FIRST for Abby. I have to admit, I had my doubts about her. But as she has done so often, she made a liar out of me because she did awesome. They both did super but Abby surprised me with how mellow, laid back and relaxed she was. Not too shabby for a 2.5 year old.
The staff was outstanding with kids (I guess that is why they are a pediatric dentist) and it was by in large the best dentist experience I have ever been through. If only they would take 38 year old Moms then we would be talking! On top of how great they were with Thomas, Abbigail, and even Marilyn as she watched on, the dentist took so much time to explain so many things to me about each of them and how their teeth are now, when the permanent teeth come in, likelihood of braces, issues to be aware of, etc, etc. I don't think I have ever been this informed about teeth and it was GREAT!
Here is Thomas getting used to the little "sucker/vacuum" on his tongue. This dental hygienist was amazing. She and Thomas laughed almost the whole time as she told him she was a hunter who was hunting sugar bugs in his mouth. She told him stories about capturing sugar spiders & sugar butterflies in other little boys' mouths and Thomas loved every minute of it. Every tool that she used was part of her "hunting" gear and it was really, really cute the whole time.
Here they are at a stopping point where he is telling her that she just missed one of the sugar spiders on his back teeth and she should go and hunt it down!
I'm thinking she must have little boys at home because she knew exactly what to do with him to keep him interested.
Can we say... relaxed?
Everyone got new toothbrushes - all in their favorite color - including Marilyn.
I thought that was too sweet that they gave her an infant toothbrush in pink to use!
And here is my super rock star of the day... Abbigail. Complete with her purple shades and monkey mirror to watch all the cleaning that went on.
The dentist was also very impressed with her & her teeth!
After the cleaning & exam, the kiddos got to pick stickers of their choice (apparently it was 5 sticker Thursday which made everyone even more excited)!
Clean teeth & beautiful smile
As a special treat for a job well done & good report, we swung through the McDonald's drive-thru on the way home for a little McEEE Ds.
