Friday Night Leftovers (Is it Spring Break yet? edition)

Hello March. Hey Peeps. Hi Friends.
  • I can't believe that back home in Florida, Spring Break is just getting started and people will be laying on the beach, dipping their toes (and sometimes whole bodies) in the not-cold, but not-super-warm water, and enjoying the springtime weather.
  • "Spring Break" here consists of the folks from Fairbanks (northern/central Alaska) coming into Anchorage for some warmer weather. As I type this, we are currently getting another few inches of the white, fluffy stuff.  So much for Spring Break up here.
  • I am officially labeling Abbigail "potty trained." We are now only using Pull-Ups during naptime and at bedtime. Exciting, right?
  • Friday nights have become our popcorn and movie night... and you know what?  I actually get excited about staying up late with my kiddos & hubby to watch a kid movie.  We have been doing this now for about 2 months and the kids know what Friday night means.  I guess this means it is a tradition?  In honor of it being Dr. Suess' birthday, tonight we are watching, "Dr. Suess' Horton Hears a Who!"
  • Marilyn is pulling up on everything, cruising furniture, walking while holding your fingers/hands and army crawling at the speed of light.  We have had a few tumbles, a few ouches... but they are always followed up with plenty of hugs & kisses.
  • Since the first of the year, Abby has grown 1.5 inches, Thomas has added a 1/2 inch and Marilyn has reached the 20 lb mark.  I can't believe how fast each of them are growing up.
  • Speaking of growing up, we got Thomas' kindergarten registration packet in the mail this week from his PK-12 school that he attends.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  Is this really happening already?
  • This weekend marks the start of the famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race here in Anchorage.  We are considering taking in the action and seeing the ceremonial start.  Either that or catch the Running with the Reindeer Race which is also downtown (yes, up close and personal with reindeer).  It's pretty funny to consider how much there is to do outside even though the temperatures are still hovering on the in the upper 20s and lower 30s.  I guess people are ready to be done with all the cabin fever and winter blues.  Not to mention that we now have 10.5 hours of daylight which makes people just want to be outside more.
TGIF folks.  Enjoy the weekend!
